Pervasive Version 10 will and lower not be supported by Actian (owners of Pervasive) in the near future.
In order to pre-empt this and ensure longevity of our products we are required to upgrade our version of Pervasive. This upgrade does not affect the current functionality as this is simply a version upgrade, it also does not add additional database related functionality to our software. Existing third-party integrations (e.g. SMART reporting, BI Reporting, etc) should continue to work in the same manner.
A few additional things to note:
a. Existing customers are not required to upgrade their version of Pervasive at this time, but they can do so by using the full install should they wish.
b. All new Sage 50c packages will come with Pervasive Version 13.
c. If you decide to upgrade Pervasive and you are using both Sage Pastel Payroll and Sage Pastel Accounting you need to upgrade Pervasive on both packages and upgrade Pastel Accounting to Version 19.2.2.
You can open some older versions of Partner/Xpress on a machine that has Pervasive Version 13 if the latest installed version of Pastel on that machine is Version 19.2.2. However, we are only selling
Pervasive Version 13 with Sage 50c (Pastel Version 19). For example, if you are using Pastel Version 18 and want to upgrade Pervasive, you also need to upgrade to Pastel Version 19. This is because Pervasive V13 licensing will only work with build 19.2.2.
Single-User packages can just install Pervasive Version 13 Workgroup for Windows. You will get a temporary license key for 30 days on installation. Before this expires you need to register Pastel to apply the permanent license. If you are using Pastel Xpress, Sales will generate new serial number for Pastel that is linked to Pervasive Version 13. You can then register Pastel Xpress using this Xpress serial number. If you are using Pastel Partner, Product Registrations Team can assist with linking your current base serial number with Pervasive Version 13. You can contact the Product Registrations Team on 011 304 3300 or [email protected]
A permanent license key for 1 user will automatically be applied if the Pervasive license key has expired or if there are no valid keys. Please note that this will only work if the machine has Sage 50cloud Pastel Accounting Build 19.2.2 or higher installed and will be done automatically when you open Pastel. If the Pastel is registered for multi-user ensure you register Pastel to apply multi-user license key for Pervasive.
This will be required when applying licenses for POS and Client-Server only. For Pervasive Workgroup licenses will be applied when you register Pastel. There must be internet access to communicate with the PSQL license service in for the license key to be applied. The internet connection needs to access the authorization server to obtain data needed for key validation.
You will get error “7239: Internet connection cannot access authorization server” as below if there is no internet access.

Possible causes include, but are not limited to, the following:
If these explanations and solutions do not address your problem, contact Pastel Support Centre.
In January 2013 Actian announced acquisition of Pervasive Software, hence the change in the name.

If you are using Pervasive for POS and Pervasive Client-Server, you need to deauthorise the Pervasive license key before installing on a new machine and using the same license key.
You will notice when uninstalling Pervasive that you get message to deauthorize the key as illustrated below.
If you did not get chance to deauthorize the license key because the server was stolen or crashed,
Product Registrations Team can generate a new key for Pervasive. You can contact the Product Registrations Team on 011 304 3300 or [email protected]

You might get the below error when trying to authorize or deauthorize a key.

The target engine tests for appropriate permissions prior to authorizing or deauthorizing a key. Target engine testing failed due to inappropriate permissions. You can check the following:
When deleting database on Pervasive Control Center, you now have option to keep DDF files or not as shown below. We recommend that you select option Yes, but only database name. Retaining the DDFs allows you to recreate the database should you so choose.
